Dr. Karim Guirguis, BSc, DC
Dr. Guirguis is a licensed Chiropractic doctor and has been in practice for over 20 years. He is the owner of Inline Health and Sports Injury Clinic.
Dr. Guirguis' interest in health and rehabilitative therapies is a life long one. Originally interested in training to be an orthopedic surgeon, he realized mid-way through his pre-med studies that he was more passionate in the rehabilitative side of health care, focusing on preventative care, healthy lifestyles, and caring for patients without the stress and risks of surgical procedures. This is when his interest in chiropractic emerged. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa in 1994, and his Doctorate from New York Chiropractic College in 1999.
After graduating, he practiced for several years at Sojourns Community Health Clinic in Westminster, Vermont, where he gained valuable experience working in a health care model which involved collaboration between professionals of several health care disciplines, including medical doctors, naturopaths, physiotherapists and psychotherapists.
After leaving Vermont, Dr. Guirguis moved to Ottawa, where he co-owned and practiced at Sunrise Wellness Centre. He recently opened up Inline Health and Sports Injury Clinic where he currently practices.
In the scope of his chiropractic practice, Dr. Guirguis treats patients with a wide variety of injuries and health conditions in all age groups- from pediatrics to seniors. While many people envision chiropractic treatments to include manual adjustments and "cracking", nearly half of his patients rely on non-manual techniques and instrument based adjustments for gentle and effective treatments. It is during this work that Dr. Guirguis developed a passion for Applied Kinesiology, which allowed him to integrate many elements of nutrition, massage therapy, physical therapy, Chinese medicine, and cranial-sacral therapy into his chiropractic practice.
He was recently involved in a two year government funded study of chiropractic care at the Carlington Community Health Centre in Ottawa. During those two years, he treated patients and evaluated their response to chiropractic treatments in collaboration with several medical doctors and nurse practitioners. Once the study was completed, the results demonstrated the effectiveness of chiropractic treatments to patients with nerve, joint, and muscle pain, and recommended that chiropractic should be an integral part of the medical team in Community Health Centres.
A certified NAET practitioner for over 15 years, Dr. Guirguis offers safe, non-invasive allergy testing and treatments, offering relief and effective remedies for those suffering from environmental triggers, seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, and more.
Recently, Dr. Guirguis received training in deep tissue laser therapy, which he has added that to his practice. He purchased a state of the art Litecure Class IV Laser machine, which has tremendously helped his patients in the treatment of acute and chronic muscular and joint injuries.
Dr. Guirguis currently resides in Ottawa with his wife, two children and dog! In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, especially soccer, skiing and tennis, as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
